Aluminium Homogenizing Furnace
Homogenizing furnace is typically used for heat treatment of aluminum billet after casting process, it aims at eliminating residual stress produced during casting and improving metallurgical results. It is a crucial unit for enhancing the quality of aluminum profiles. After being homogenized, internal elements of aluminum billet (e.g. Mg2Si and Fe) are consistent. The homogenizing process features less mold consumption and improved surface quality of billet. A full set of homogenizing furnace consists of homogenization chamber, changing machine (transfer car) and cooling chamber. In the homogenizing furnace, aluminum billet will be heated up to 570℃(±5℃) or process required temperature, then cooled rapidly within a short period, ensuring efficient homogenizing for aluminum billets.TLS annealing heat treatment involves heating a material to a specified temperature and then cooling at a very slow and controlled rate. How does Annealing work?
The 3 stages of the annealing process that proceed as the temperature of the material is increased are: recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth.
Recovery results in the softening of the metal through the removal of primarily linear defects called dislocations and the internal stresses they cause. Recovery occurs at the lower temperature stage of all annealing processes and before the appearance of new strain-free grains. The grain size and shape do not change.
The second stage is recrystallization, where new strain-free grains nucleate and grow to replace those deformed by internal stresses.If annealing is allowed to continue once recrystallization has completed, then grain growth (third stage) occurs. In grain growth, the microstructure starts to coarsen and may cause the metal to lose a substantial part of its original strength. This can however be regained with hardening.
The aluminum annealing furnace can be provided with electrical heating system through strip type heating elements located along with the sidewalls of the furnace. The heating elements of the furnace are suitably divided into number of heating zones with each zone of having their bank of heater cartridges. Each bank heater cartridges shall be connected either in STAR/DELTA or Parallel STAR/DELTA groups to have minimum number of heaters per phase per group so that the heater of groups can be isolated, without switching off the furnace in case they need replacement. TLS has a full range of batch type bogie hearth furnaces up to a capacity of 50 MT for Annealing of aluminium alloy conductors and Ageing of AAAC conductors and aluminum alloy wire loaded on drums.
